Local SEO

Local SEO for businesses that need to be found where they actually work.

Local SEO isn't sprinkling town names through your website. It's the combined effect of a sound site, honest service pages, a well-run Google Business Profile, genuine reviews and steady improvement — which is slower to sell and considerably more effective.

What local SEO actually means

Three searches, three different problems.

These are illustrations of how local intent differs, not claims about where we or our clients currently rank.

  • “decorator near me”

Location comes from the phone, not the words. Google decides who's nearby and credible — your profile, reviews and service relevance do the arguing.

  • “web designer Sutton Coldfield”

An explicit place plus service. Wins go to businesses with a genuine service page, real local relevance and evidence — including us, if we do our job.

  • “water damage restoration Birmingham”

Urgent, high-value intent across a wide area. Needs a specific service page, clear coverage and an obvious way to get someone out today.

Visibility comes from these things together.

No single one of them is the trick. Doing eight of the eleven properly is what moves a local business.

  • A technically sound website

Fast, crawlable, indexed, sensible headings. Everything else is built on this.

  • Clear service pages

One strong page per service you want work from, written for the person searching it.

  • Genuine location relevance

Coverage stated honestly, with depth where you actually operate.

  • Google Business Profile

Where you're eligible, this often does more for local enquiries than anything else.

  • Reviews

Volume, recency and how you respond — all of it read by humans as well as algorithms.

  • Internal links

So the pages you care about are clearly the important ones.

  • Useful content

Answers to what people search before they buy, not blog filler.

  • Consistent business information

Same name, number, address handling and hours everywhere it appears.

  • Real projects

Completed work, written up. Proof and content in one job.

  • Search Console data

What you're actually appearing for, which is rarely what you assumed.

  • Ongoing improvement

Local results move. A one-off push fades.

Our position

Service pages before spammy town pages.

The oldest trick in local SEO is generating a page for every town in a thirty-mile radius with nothing changed but the place name. It used to work. Now it mostly produces a website full of pages that compete with each other, convince nobody, and make the whole site look thinner than it is.

We build strong pages around genuine services first, because that's what people search and what you can actually write something useful about. Location pages come second, in small numbers, only where there's real presence and real work to point at.

Fewer pages, each of which deserves to exist. It's slower to produce and it holds up.

Google Business Profile

The free asset most businesses half-fill.

  • Eligibility

You need to serve customers in person or travel to them. If not, this route isn't open to you and we'll say so rather than take the money.

  • Categories

Primary category does a lot of the heavy lifting; secondary categories add reach. Getting this wrong quietly caps everything else.

  • Services

Listed individually, matching the language customers use and the pages on your site.

  • Business information

Name, hours, contact, description and attributes kept accurate and consistent with the website.

  • Service areas

Real coverage, not every town within fifty miles. Overreaching dilutes relevance.

  • Photos and posts

Genuine job photos, refreshed periodically. Useful for people deciding whether you look competent.

We won't promise map results. Map visibility depends heavily on where the person searching happens to be, and that isn't something anyone can sell you.

Reviews

Reviews are commercial before they're technical.

Before anyone rings a local business, they check whether other people were glad they did. Recency matters — twelve reviews from this year reads better than sixty from 2019. Detail matters, because specific praise is believable. And replies matter, including on the awkward ones, where a calm response says more about you than the complaint does.

The practical work is building asking into how you finish a job: the right moment, a direct link, and no awkwardness. Most businesses under-ask rather than under-deliver.

We'll never write reviews for you, buy them, or suggest incentives. Beyond being against Google's policies, it's the fastest way to lose the trust you're trying to build.

Local content

Content that proves you work here.

  • Case studies of completed jobs, written up with the problem, the approach and the result.
  • Project pages for recognisable local work, where the client is happy to be named.
  • Service-area information that says something real — access, travel, response times, typical work in that area.
  • FAQs that reflect local realities: parking, permits, property types, seasonal demand.
  • Practical business information — hours, coverage, how to get a quote, what happens after you enquire.

Notice what isn't on the list: articles about the local area written for search engines rather than customers. If a page wouldn't help someone deciding whether to hire you, it shouldn't exist.

How ongoing SEO works

£395 or £695 a month, and here's what happens in it.

Growth SEO is £395/month; Scale SEO is £695/month, for businesses in more competitive markets or with more pages to work on. Full pricing.

  • 01Search Console and analytics reviewed — queries, impressions, clicks, pages gaining and slipping.
  • 02Google Business Profile checked and updated, with photos or posts where useful.
  • 03One or two priority pages improved rather than a dozen touched lightly.
  • 04New content or a new service/area page where the data says there's genuine demand.
  • 05Technical checks: speed, indexing, broken links, structured data.
  • 06Review position monitored, plus a plain-English report on what changed and what's next.

Relevant proof

Two projects where local thinking shaped the build.

We describe the approach rather than quoting ranking numbers — where we haven't verified a figure, we won't invent one.
