Website maintenance

Website Maintenance Without the Agency Nonsense

Websites aren't finished on launch day. Prices change, services get added, links break, forms stop working quietly in the background. Maintenance is the ongoing work that keeps a site doing its job — not a mysterious retainer full of jargon.

What's included

  • Content updates — new prices, opening hours, team changes, seasonal messaging.
  • Adding new pages when you launch a service, product or location.
  • Broken link checks and fixes, so old links don't quietly rot your site.
  • Form testing, so an enquiry form that's stopped working gets caught before it costs you a customer.
  • Technical health checks appropriate to the platform your site is built on.
  • Security and software updates where the technology you're on requires them.
  • Basic SEO health checks — titles, headings, indexing, obvious issues.
  • Tracking checks, confirming analytics and conversion tracking are still firing correctly.

What isn't

  • Full redesigns or rebuilding the site from scratch.
  • New features, integrations or custom functionality — this is development work, quoted separately.
  • Ongoing SEO strategy, content production and monthly optimisation — that's a dedicated SEO retainer.
  • Copywriting for entirely new services beyond minor amendments to existing pages.
  • Fixing the consequences of using a third-party plugin or platform we didn't build the site on and haven't audited.

A site that grows with the business

A website should look like a business that's still trading.

A new service worth mentioning, a second location worth a page of its own, a case study from a job that went well — these are ordinary bits of running a business, and a website should reflect them without needing a whole new project every time. That's the difference between a site that ages and one that stays current.

Not sure which you need

Maintenance, redesign or SEO — they solve different problems.

These three get lumped together in conversation, but they answer different questions. Here's how to tell which one you actually need.

  • Website maintenance

Your website already does its job. You just need it kept current, working and tidy as small things change.

The right answer when nothing is fundamentally wrong — you're adding a page here, fixing a broken form there, keeping pace with a business that's quietly moving forward.

  • Website redesign

The site looks dated, doesn't reflect the business any more, or was never built to convert enquiries in the first place.

Maintenance can't fix a site that's fundamentally wrong for the business. If the foundations are the problem, a redesign is the honest answer, not another patch.

    About redesigns
  • Ongoing SEO

The site works fine but isn't being found. You want more of the right people arriving, not just a tidier site for the people who already do.

SEO is a separate discipline aimed at visibility and search performance over time. Maintenance keeps a site healthy; SEO is what grows who sees it.

How we do it

Managed Hosting & Care, from £49 a month.

For most of our clients, maintenance runs through our Managed Hosting & Care package — hosting and routine upkeep bundled together, because whoever's looking after a site needs to actually be able to act on it.

It covers the ongoing work above at a flat, predictable monthly cost. Anything larger — new features, a bigger content project, ongoing SEO — gets scoped and quoted on its own, so you always know what you're paying for and why.
