For plumbers & plumbing companies
SEO for plumbers where search intent can change from planned to urgent in seconds.
One search for a burst pipe has nothing in common with one for a new bathroom, even though both come from someone who needs a plumber. Treating them the same loses both.
Two very different customers
Emergency and planned work don't behave the same way.
“emergency plumber near me”
Someone standing next to a leak with water going where it shouldn't. They'll ring whoever answers first and looks credible in the next thirty seconds — not whoever has the best-written page.
“boiler replacement cost”
A planned purchase, researched over days or weeks. This person wants detail, options and reassurance before they'll pick a name off a shortlist.
“bathroom installation plumber”
A project-based search closer to a tradesperson's job than a call-out. It rewards photos of finished work and a clear sense of what's included.
“heating upgrade”
Often triggered by a cold house or a rising bill rather than a breakdown — informational at first, commercial once they've understood their options.
Speed is a ranking and a conversion factor
Built for the person who can't wait.
Page speed
An emergency searcher is usually on a phone with patience measured in seconds. A slow site loses them before it's even loaded.
Tap-to-call above the fold
The phone number should be visible and tappable without scrolling, on every page, not buried in a footer.
A visible answer to “do you cover me?”
State your service area plainly near the top of the page — hesitation costs you the call.
Clarity on availability
If you genuinely offer 24-hour call-out, say so clearly. If you don't, say your actual hours honestly rather than implying round-the-clock cover you can't deliver.
Service pages
Only build the pages your business genuinely delivers.
Emergency call-out and leak repair — built for speed and immediate contact, not a long explanation of the company.
Boiler installation and repair — a considered purchase, so this page can afford more detail, pricing guidance and finance options if you offer them.
Bathroom and heating installations — project work, closer in tone to a portfolio page than a call-out page.
Not every plumbing company offers all of these. A page for a service you don't actually do, just to widen reach, tends to disappoint the enquiry and waste the click.
Google Business Profile
Where eligible, this is often the first thing a caller sees.
If you serve customers in person, a well-run profile — accurate categories, listed services, current hours, and photos that actually show your vans and jobs — is usually the most valuable thing you can keep on top of, and it's free. It's not open to every business model, so we'll be straight about whether it applies to yours.
More on running this properly on the Google Business Profile for trades page.
Trust, fast
Genuine reviews, read in a hurry.
Someone with water coming through a ceiling doesn't read ten reviews carefully — they glance at the star rating and the most recent one or two, then decide. That means recency matters as much as volume, and it means never buying or incentivising reviews: beyond breaking Google's rules, a fabricated review reads oddly under real pressure. Ongoing SEO — Growth at £395/month or Scale at £695/month, see pricing — includes keeping this side of the business maintained month to month.
